A CAMBRIDGESHIRE man who repeatedly stabbed his 21-year-old partner has today been jailed for 11 years for attempted murder.

Cambridge Crown Court heard that Rafal Graczyk, 25, of Alwyn Close, St Ives, told his partner to choose whether he should kill her or their baby. After she chose herself, he stabbed her repeatedly, leaving her lying in a pool of blood at their home.

Officers were called at 4.45am on February 7 this year by a distressed woman who asked for police and then hung up. The call taker was able to trace the call to Graczyk’s home and officers rushed to the address.

When they arrived they found the woman lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds. They gave the woman first aid while they waited for an ambulance.

She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with serious injuries and underwent surgery.

She later described to officers how the previous day she had told Gracyzk she was leaving him and that morning, as she got ready for work, he had become violent.

DC Sarah Fines said: “Graczyk is a violent man who showed no remorse for the suffering he put his partner through.

“She has shown great courage throughout this process and I hope today’s result will provide her with some closure to this horrendous experience.”

Graczyk pleaded guilty at a previous hearing.
