A fry up fan is calling for plum tomatoes to be stocked again in his local Co-op after they were taken off the shelves about two months ago.

Q: Why Did The Tomato Blush? A: Because he saw the salad dressing Q: What did the sergeant tomato say to the slacker soldier tomato? A: "You better catch up!" Q: Why did the tomato go out with a prune? A: Because he couldn't find a date! Q: How do you fix a broken tomato? A: Tomato paste! Q: What did the pasta say to the tomato? A: "Don't get saucy with me!" Q: Why did Mrs. Tomato turn red? A: She saw Mr Green Pea ! Q: What is red and goes up and down? A: A tomato in an elevator. Q: How do you keep a rotten tomato from smelling? A: You pinch its nose. Q: Why is a tomato round and red? A: Because if it was long, skinny, and green, it would be a bean. Q: Why is life like ketchup? A: Good things in life come slow and are worth waiting for. Q: How do you get rid of lazy tomato employees? A: Can them.

Ian Shepherd says the Badgeney Road store in March now only stocks chopped tomatoes and has turned to the media to help sort it out.

“They have a whole shelf of chopped tomatoes but no plum tomatoes, you can’t have a fry up with those,” he said.

“If you want egg, bacon and tomatoes you don’t want chopped ones, you need plum tomatoes,” said Mr Shepherd who has been shopping at the convenience store since moving into Asplin Avenue six years ago.

“Why on earth doesn’t the Co-op stock them any more?

“The staff there are great. But every time I go in there I reckon they go, here he is again, going on about plum tomatoes.

“If the newspaper can’t do anything then nobody can.

“I know it seems a bit of a laugh but underneath it all, actually it is just annoying.”

A spokesman for the Co-op is preparing a comment.
