Mayor of March, Councillor Jan French, digs the first sod to herald the start of work to provide state-of-the-art play equipment at the new junior play area in Russell Avenue, March.

The work, costing more than £40,000, is just a portion of the total to be spent as part of the project run by the Town Council in partnership with Fenland District Council.

Cllr French, also a district councillor, is pictured at the launch with, left to right, Councillor John West, Fenland Council's parks and open spaces manager Bob Ollier and Councillor Peter Murphy.

"This is proof that, with the town council and Fenland Council working in partnership, we can achieve lots of things," said Cllr French. "We hope it will be up and running for the children when they have their half-term holiday.
