A motorist has had a lucky escape after their vehicle left the road and ended up on its roof in a ditch.

The incident took place on the A47 at Terrington St John.

King's Lynn Police Tweeted a picture of the vehicle in the early hours of Sunday morning with a warning for people to take care on the roads while driving.

Police said the motorist had been uninjured.

'Road conditions are horrendous tonight with lots of black ice.

'Amazingly the driver of this car was uninjured after it ended upside down in a ditch on the A47 at Terrington St John!'

Emergency services have warned motorists to take care on the roads after the Met Office issued a second Yellow Warning for snow and ice for the East of England on Sunday.

Areas included Norfolk, Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Central Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Peterborough, Sutton and Luton. The warning was valid from 6am to 6pm.
