...newly elected Marshland St James Parish Council chairman Jack Bantoft is not convinced they were responsible for him losing his district council seat.
"As far as the loss of my council seat is concerned, across the country many hundreds of Labour councillors lost their seats on May 3, including ten in West Norfolk alone, as a result of the unpopularity of our then leader, Tony Blair," Jack tells me.
"In addition, in Mershe Lande ward the Conservatives put up a good, strong, likeable, local candidate for the first time since I had been a councillor. I would have voted for him myself, if I hadn't been standing!"
He adds, quite stoically in the circumstances I felt, that "if wind turbines had any impact at all in that election, it was a mere pinprick compared to the other factors.
