LEISURE development at the Neale-Wade Community College and the planned College of West Anglia could affect the future of the George Campbell Leisure Centre, at March.

Two weeks ago, the Cambs Times speculated that college-based leisure development could lead to the demolition of the George Campbell Centre.

At the latest meeting of Fenland District Council, Councillor Jan French asked if this was true.

Councillor Alan Melton, the council's portfolio older for 'open for business' said discussion were going on about the redevelopment of March, and he understood there may be some development in Odgen's Yard (a site off the high Street near the centre).

He added that with the possibility of further leisure investment at the Neale-Wade College and college of West Anglia came to fruition, it would not be possible for the town to sustain three leisure centres.

However, there were no firm plans and a number of options would be looked at.
