The first mayor of Chatteris was determined to show her guests some of the town's heritage when she held her "at home".

Councillor Sue Elam welcomed more than 60 guests from all over the area to Chatteris Museum to give them a flavour of the town's past.

"I wanted to show off our heritage and everyone was very interested in the community archive," she said.

Mayors from neighbouring towns joined representatives of Fenland District Council, former Chatteris councillors and representatives of all the Chatteris churches.

Cllr Elam said: "After being vice-chairman of the council for 11 years, it is very exciting to be mayor. We have a lot of exciting things going on in the town, with lots of investment and developments.
