DAVE ‘Boy’ Green dropped into a Chatteris charity Cam Sight at the weekend to help it celebrate its 100th birthday.
The former British and European boxing champion and current businessman opened the blind charity’s fete in Brictson Hall, Market Hill to help celebrate its centenary year.
Visitors to Saturday’s (July 28) event took part in sight awareness games, to help learn more about the circumstances of blind and visually impaired people, as well as enjoying stalls, refreshments and cakes.
The organisation, based at the Age UK offices in Victoria Street, is currently trying to raise £500,000 for an all-singing, all-dancing technological centre of excellence as part of its Centenary Appeal.
However much of the £330 raised at this year’s fete will be spent directly in Fenland.
Organiser Gill Howell said: “The event went really well, a lot of people came along and found it enjoyable and generally informative.”
