A 75-YEAR-old man from Chatteris suffered a head injury after falling from a ladder whilst taking down his Christmas decorations yesterday.
Magpas Helimedix team responded to the emergency at around 1pm and the man was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
He had fallen from his loft and cut the back of his head but his injuries were not serious and he was discharged from hospital soon afterwards.
The accident followed a further incident on the morning of New Year’s Day, when a 26-year-old man suffered a serious head injury after falling at his March home.
The man, who had been celebrating the New Year, was knocked unconscious after falling backwards and hitting his head on a stone hearth.
The Helimedix team anaesthetised the patient at the scene and he was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He was discharged the following day.
Magpas, which is in the midst of fighting a financial crisis, has now raised enough money to continue saving lives across Cambridgeshire until the end of January.
Antonia Brickell, from the charity, said: “Thankfully, the men involved in both incidents have now been discharged from hospital. But these stories highlight the urgent need for Magpas’ emergency service.
