PLEASE can everyone involved in the proposed Chatteris supermarket stop pussy-footing around and just get on with it. We do need this supermarket not in New Road as was once suggested, whoever that was must be mad (and no I do not live anywhere near New Road).
The garage owners are of course going to be against it, the threat of cheaper petrol is bound to effect them but that’s something they will have to deal with.
As for the suggestion that it will kill off the town, don’t you think that’s been done already, let’s see what can we offer a visitor. A good ladies clothes shop, shoe shop, and if you want carpets and curtains we have that, and a florist. Other shops are mainly food, newsagents, chemist how long would that take someone to walk round.
So, let’s get on with it and we do not want another leisure centre fiasco. I was at the meeting 16-17 years ago at Cromwell College and we are still waiting for that to materialise.
So come on, get on with it.
