The boys from Chatteris travelling 12,500 miles from the Fens to Japan in a 16-year-old Toyota Yaris are finally on the ferry to their final destination.
Dan Handley and Dave Brooks, both mechanics from the Cambridgeshire town, are more than 12,000 miles deep into their trip in aid of Children in Need.
The pair have been on the road since Sunday, August 12 and left Fenland with a blue-light escort from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue.
Their journey has been well documented with regular updates on their social media pages ‘Chatteris2Tokyo’ as well as a live tracker on their website.
This year’s Fenland Business Awards will be supporting the pair as money raised at the gala ceremony will go towards their chosen charity.
In a post on social media, Dan and Dave said: “Russia, completed it! This morning we waved goodbye to Larry as he was driven through to customs control to board the ferry to Japan.
“Hopefully we’ll see him on the other side! We then spent our final day doing a spot of shopping and some more sight seeing.
“Our week in Vladivostok has been absolutely brilliant. The city is full of surprises with so much to see and do.
“The people here couldn’t have been more welcoming towards us two aliens.
“It’s a shame we have to leave but we have a mission to complete and we’re 99 per cent there!”
