THERE’S neither a church or a hill on the A1101 as it makes its way into Wisbech - but visitors to the town could be forgiven for searching for both those landmarks after a new road sign was erected in town.
Red faced council officials have admitted that the new sign erected on Churchill Road has given it a completely new name.
Churchill Road is named to honour the famous Second World War prime minister – but the new sign has been put up with Sir Winston’s name divided into two.
The sign – newly erected at the junction of Norwich Road and Churchill Road – has declared the road name Church Hill Road.
A spokesman from Fenland District Council said: “Thank you for drawing our attention to this mistake. We will take the necessary steps to ensure a correct sign is ordered and installed.”
