MARCH Royal British Legion Club held an action packed weekend to celebrate the 61st anniversary of VJ Day.
Events began on Saturday morning with a drumhead service conducted by the Rev Anthony Chandler at the club headquarters.
On Saturday afternoon there was a sponsored bed push by club members, assisted by March Army Cadets, with club president George Brewin as the patient, as shown in our picture.
A good number of members and guests enjoyed a sing-along and entertainment by Joy and George Carr, Pearly King and Queen of Southwark, and Jackie and Micky Murphy, Pearly King and Queen of Hackney.
The weekend's celebrations culminated with a barbecue and fun day on Monday afternoon. About £800 was raised for war veterans and their dependants.
