Winners Sawtry, defeated their fellow finalists Littleport Team One, 3-1.

Sawtry store manager Peter McColl, who admitted that his footballing skills were a bit rusty, said afterwards: “I so enjoy our fundraising events and the camaraderie is just brilliant especially meeting up with fellow Co-op staff and competing against them in this way just makes it a brilliant day out.“

Littleport’s Wisbech Road branch team leader, Linda Loveday, who started the ball rolling around six years ago, was pleased with the turnout.

She said: “We always like to vary our charity events from rounders, insane terrain (mud competition), cake baking etc - so we thought five a-side football would be a fun competition to run. It’s just a shame we lost in the final.”
