The 100 page soft back is a record of compelling creative work taken around the UK and abroad.

The graphic designer, photographer and musician began compiling some of his favourite images in 2011 and now, four years later, has compiled some of them into a coffee table book of creativity.

He said: “As I look around I see intriguing composition constantly and I’m compelled to capture what I see expressing how I see it.”

In 2004 he embraced the digital age and bought his first DSLR camera and over the following years began his journey which he says has become his therapy and also a way of sharing his aesthetic view and vision.

“This collection of work is not commercially driven it’s creative images collected between 2004 and 2011 compiled into this one journal called My Eye.

“These pictures maybe tell stories. They portray character and mood that evoke a response,” he said.

Mr Donovan used to run a graphic design company in Ely called The Design Dell in Newnham Street, but now works for a range of clients working from home

as a film maker, graphic designer, musician and workshop artist.

His client list includes art organisations, bands, schools and charities for whom he has created designs, branding, photography and videos.

In May 2014 he was commissioned to make a film featuring a collaboration between Leonard Cheshire Disability, London Philharmonic; Royal Academy of Arts and Crisis, which premiered at The Royal Academy. His photography and film work have exhibited in galleries nationally.

Away from his photography he plays in the garage blues band King Kool as vocalist and guitarist, playing regular gigs in Belgium and Holland where the music genre has a strong following.

His book launch is on Friday June 5 from 7pm to 9.30pm at The Angles Theatre. To attend please email Dan Donovan dan@battenburg.biz.
