AT last Wednesday's meeting of the community centre committee, chaired jointly by Rex Mallett and Cyril Drewery, it was decided to buy 50 chairs to match the existing ones. It was reported that secretary/treasurer Ken Buckle wished to retire and nominations were sought so an appointment could be made before the annual meeting on December 11. There had been an offer from young people in the village to clean up the playing field, but owing to insurance policy restrictions this would not be possible, as they could not be supervised by committee members. The hall and fund-raising report was given by Ann Balls and the following events will take place: First night of the proms with March Brass 2000, December 2; sausage supper and cabaret evening, January 27.
