THE Community Centre Committee met at the centre last Thursday evening. Rex Mallett and Cyril Drewery were joint chairman, assisted by newly-appointed secretary Jayne Sinnott and treasurer Richard Meadows. A letter of thanks for a basket of flowers was received from Jean Buckle and a beech tree is to be planted to commemorate Ken Buckle who had retired as secretary/treasurer after many years' service. Owing to the resignation of fund-raising chairman Ann Balls the report was given by Sheila Long. The next fund-raising events will be a bingo evening on February 23 (7pm) and a sponsored dog walk and table top sale on March 11 (10am). The Field Committee had received a complaint about the surface of the children's play area, and the possibility of more play equipment was discussed. The finance report was given and it was agreed that two new hand-dryers are needed in the toilets and estimates are needed. The electric inspection had taken place in the hall, but no stickers placed on the equipment.
