AT the latest meeting of the Community Centre committee, chaired by Cyril Drewery, it was reported that the new kitchen floor had been laid and the insurance company were unable to help with the cost. It was also reported that the new folding tables for the hall had arrived and it was agreed to keep 30 of the existing ones and possibly sell the remaining 18. The caretaker's job will still be done by Mr J Johnson, but a new cleaner is to be appointed and the job will commence on Sunday. Treasurer Mr R Meadows gave a financial report and the chairman reported that the kitchen needs decorating and some tiling needs to be done. Also 'no-smoking' signs have to be on display before July 1. A letter had been received from the secretary of the Short-Mat Bowls Club asking for permission to store spare mats in the loft. Members agreed. Complaints had been made about warm drinks as there was no fridge in the bar.
