RAIL travellers using March Station have been told they can again pay cash for their tickets.

The decision by the One rail company to halt cash sales followed the theft of a safe from the booking office last month.

Rail staff vetoed taking cash while new security arrangements were put in place, which meant travellers were forced to use debit or credit cards to obtain their tickets before they travelled.

Any passengers wishing to pay cash were invited to buy their tickets from the on-train conductors.

However, Peter Meades, public affairs manager for One railway, said new security arrangements had been put in place. On Tuesday, commuters were again able to pay cash.

"We worked to restore full facilities at the ticket office as soon as possible," he said.

"We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers while cash payments could not be accepted at March ticket office following the recent break-in and theft of the office safe.
