MORE than 700,000 visits were made to Fenland Council's leisure centres in March, Wisbech and Whittlesey, but that is not enough for the ambitious leisure centre staff who are determined to attract even more.

Staff at the Manor Leisure Centre in Whittlesey; Hudson Leisure Centre in Wisbech and George Campbell Leisure Centre in March will, over the next few months, be conducting surveys at the council's Fenland @ your service shops aimed at people who do not use the centres.

The aim of the surveys is to identify ways of encouraging people to use the centres and to stay fit and active for their health and for fun. As an added incentive the three leisure centres will be offering a free swimming lesson to anyone who fills in the questionnaire.

Councillor Steve Garratt, portfolio holder for sport, leisure and young people, said: "Leisure and health are so important to everyone in our community. We have three excellent leisure centres and we want more people to take advantage of them. I believe the information contained within the questionnaires will be invaluable in tailoring our services to an even wider audience.
