SECRETARY Ray Cross paid tribute to his fellow officers, and members who had regularly turned out for the friendly matches and club fixtures at the annual meeting of March Conservative Bowls Club.
Treasurer Des Ruse produced a balance sheet which indicated the costs of maintaining the green were becoming a huge drain on club finances. The efforts of the ladies, in creating funds by raffles, social events, provided a valuable contribution to the income. However, the coming year would present difficulty. The president for 2006 presented the new president for 2007, Gerry Painter. New vice-president is Mrs C Preston. Officers were re-elected, with the addition of Clive Chapman to the committee.
It was agreed to increase the subscription by £5 a member. There was considerable interest in a proposal that the club look into the prospect of a bowls tour, possibly to Scotland, in either 2007 or 2008.
The meeting closed with thanks to retiring president Roy Giddens and club captain Peter Knight.
