A construction company wants to take over offices on the High Street.

The Construction Index, of March Enterprise Park in Thorby Avenue, has applied to Fenland District Council for “change of use” for gangmaster Roberto Mac’s premises, which have been empty for almost a year.

No internal or external works are planned to the site, which would continue to be used as offices.

The application says: “The building is currently used as offices but in A2 use rather than our current use of B1a.

“Nothing will need to change it is just that our business does not fall into A2 category.

“As we are proposing no physical changes to the building or surroundings and the current use is more or less the same as the proposed use, we can not foresee anything we will do will affect the building save for the fact the building has stood empty and unheated for nearly a year now with no maintenance.

“Once planning permission is granted and we take occupation we can then maintain the building.”
