A SERIES of arts events have been launched as part of a council programme to transform Fenland’s libraries.

Activities ranging from comedy clubs to a TV project were announced this week by Cambridgeshire County Council Libraries on community website ShapeYourPlace.

Library Friends groups across Fenland will decide what will take place in their local library.

Cambridgeshire County Councillor David Harty, Cabinet Member for Learning, said: “Libraries are at the heart of their communities, and this opportunity shows community decision making and involvement in action.

“It will also showcase the opportunity to use libraries for an exciting range of events and activities.”

The ‘Arts Alive in Libraries’ programme is funded as part of the Library Development Initiative from the Arts Council and has been developed as a partnership with the new CS3 Arts Consortia and Cambridgeshire Libraries.

Chatteris Library will host Event Management training for 13-19 year olds starting on November 16 and Manga drawing workshops on November 24 and December 8.
