COUNCILLOR Samantha Hoy enjoyed a landslide victory in the Hill By-Election, but turn out was extremely low.

The Conservative Party candidate, who is deputy mayor of Wisbech, was elected to Fenland District Council with 59.7 per cent of the vote (319 votes), leaving Labour hopeful Dean Reeves, with 20.6 per cent (110) and independent candidate John White, with 19.7 per cent (105) trailing far behind.

Fellow Conservative Party candidate Michelle Tanfield surged to an equally comprehensive win in the Wisbech Town Council voting.

She secured 58.1 per cent of the vote (310), with Dean Reeves in second with 21 per cent (112) and John White in third with 20.9 per cent (111).

Both elections received a turnout of 12.7 per cent, which is lower than the 15 per cent turn out for the police commissioner elections in November 2012.
