A female teacher – who works for a company specialising in offering support for offenders – appeared in court today accused of having an affair with an inmate at Whitemoor Prison.

Samantha (Sam) Drinkwater, 48, of Ramsey appeared before magistrates in Peterborough accused of carrying on with the prisoner for almost two years.

She is also accused of illicitly taking into prison a memory as well as the attempted importation into Whitemoor of cannabis.

The offences are alleged to have happened between November 2015 and the summer of 2017.

Drinkwater’s next appearance in the dock will be at Peterborough Crown Court towards the end of February.
