Almost 50 per cent of drivers stopped in police checks on Fenland roads were breaking the law.
Seventy-one cars and minibuses were stopped during a four-hour period last Tuesday and 35 vehicles were seized for offences of either driving without insurance, having no road tax, driving without a licence or vehicle defects.
All six minibuses stopped were uninsured.
The spot checks were carried out by a combined Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk police team working alongside immigration officers and with representatives of DVLA and VOSA.
Eight untaxed vehicles were taken to a Peterborough storage depot.
