Crowds gather to see the ground breaking event at Gorefield to herald start of new sports pavilion and hall

GOREFIELD Parish Council hosted a ground breaking event on Saturday to mark the start of the new Sports Pavilion and Community Hall.

Parish councillors were joined by playing field committee members and Cllr Chris Seaton, deputy leader of Fenland District Council, Sam Peggs of Peggs Construction Ltd (the main contractor), David Broker (Project Architect), football team representatives and members of the public to mark this milestone for the project.

Funding for the �235,000 project has come from Sport England (�50,000) Fenland District Council (�100,000) and monies held to the parish council

(�85,000) through local fund raising and insurance.

Construction starts next week with an estimated completion date of May 2013.
