A CAR dealer accused of charging a customer hundreds of pounds for work he allegedly never completed, has changed his plea to not guilty and will now stand trial at Crown Court.

Kerry Nurse, of Pound Road, Chatteris, had pleaded guilty to two counts of supplying goods with false descriptions when he appeared before Huntingdon magistrates in March.

However, Nurse was back in court in June when his barrister made a successful bid to "vacate the plea"

At a further hearing in August, the Crown Court exercised its discretion to allow the withdrawal of the guilty plea and has decided the case should go to trial.

A case review is expected to take place at a Crown Court hearing on September 21, and a trial date will be set for this autumn.

The case is being prepared for trial by Cambridgeshire trading standards officers, who investigated the original complaint by Stewart Gould of Chatteris. Mr Gould alleged he had paid £3,382.63 for a reconditioned engine which, allegedly, had never been installed.

Information supplied to the Cambs Times separately has been handed to Cambridgeshire trading standards. Our report is now being studied by trading standards officers in both Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.
