The 50-year-old, of Plantation Road, Sawston, was cycling along the busway at about 4.50pm when he was involved in a collision with a bus.
A police spokesman said: “The collision happened on the guided busway in Long Road, Cambridge, next to the Clare College playing fields.
“The cyclist, a man, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision should contact the Road Policing Unit on 101 quoting CC-13092018-0340.”
