Cyclists and pedestrians are set to benefit from improvements made to a Fenland park.
The central diagonal path from the George Campbell Leisure Centre to Marylebone Bridge in West End Park has been widened to provide a clearly marked cycleway and the surface has been repaired.
Other paths have also been refurbished, including the one that runs alongside the river and the one linking Marylebone Bridge to the Chase.
The project has been jointly funded by Fenland District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council.
Councillor Peter Murphy, FDC’s Cabinet member responsible for the environment, gathered with other councillors, the Mayor of March and council officers for the official opening of the central pathway.
He said: “All this will make life much better for everyone who uses the park. The old paths were in a very poor state and they were getting worse. The main path was also very narrow, which caused a lot of problems between cyclists and pedestrians.”
