A SPECIAL reunion of the March Wheelers cycling club was held on Saturday when artist Brian Bent presented an oil painting to Peter Hewitt, chairman of March Museum Society.
The painting depicts a scene of the cyclists leaving Broad Street on one of their club runs which took place in the 1940s and 50s.
The artist was a member of the club, which disbanded around 1958, and he has painted each club member, including himself, as a recognisable figure. A key accompanies the painting, which now hangs in the museum, and each person can be identified.
Mr Bent, who now lives in London, attended the Wheelers' last reunion three years ago and decided then to produce the painting. It took him more than two years to complete.
