A Fenland man who grew up in Chatteris and attended March Grammar School has published his fifth novel.

Cyril Holbrook, who worked as a trainee for the Cambs Times and Wisbech Standard, before working on the Eastern Daily Press in Norwich, has released ‘Ask No Questions’.

He said: “It was Rudyard Kipling’s advice when dealing with smugglers. But it is not taken by Tom Reynolds after his life is turned upside down when he loses his daughter and wife due to illegal drugs.

“Setting out for a new life in Spain, however, he sees the possibility for revenge due to a chance meeting with a man who is running drugs across the Mediterranean. This leads to him fighting for his life.

Chatteris-born Cyril also trained on the Norwich Evening News in Norwich and the Evening Telegraph and Angling Times in Peterborough before moving to Spain.

The family returned to England in 2011 and he now lives in Norfolk with his son after his wife died four years ago.
