THE Annual Women's World Day of Prayer service was held at Tilney St Lawrence Parish Church. Theme was 'United Under God's Tent' and was prepared by Christian women of Paraguay. There was a good congregation from Emneth, West Walton, Marshland St James, Terrington St John and Tilney All Saints. The service was organised by Pam Bottom and led by Barbara Pearman and Stevie Brooks (licensed lay ministers) who also gave a presentation. A table display using cloth, flowers, plants, fruit and lace to demonstrate the colours of the Paraguayan landscape was prepared by Pam Bottom, Marie Hall and Mary Whitear. Organist was John Everington. Elizabeth Knights was in charge of the Paraguayan harp music on CD. Other readers taking part were Marie Hall, Veronica Nelson, Pam Bottom, Pat Lake, Mary Whitear, Elizabeth Knights, Joan Thompson, Joy Smalley, Janet Rawson and Doreen Idle. Elizabeth Knights compiled and read a prayer for the needs of the local community. A collection raised £87.78 for Women's World Day of Prayer for Christian literature and educational projects for the less fortunate. Refreshments were served after the service.
