A BODY found in a Fenland village this morning is that of an elderly man, police confirmed.

They also said the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and their report is being handed to NE Cambs Coroner William Morris.

A police spokesman said that the man’s identity would now be a matter for the coroner to reveal once inquiries have been completed. The spokesman added that the body was found by a member of the public at around 7.48am who reported it to police.

It is not clear at this stage whether the body, as first reported, was found in a nearby dyke. There have also been reports of a cycle being found in the area.

Police have sealed off the Common in Panswell Lane which meant closure for a while of the B1169.
