FORTY-FOUR former members of the armed services were presented with their Veteran’s Badges today at a moving ceremony in St Peter’s Church, March.
The badges were presented by Richard Barnwell, of Wisbech, Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire.
Thanking the veterans for their service, he paid tribute to “the outstanding bravery and determination of all our troops” and said: “We the civilian population will be forever in your debt for the sacrifices you have made.”
The ceremony was organised by Fenland District Council and hosted by Councillor Michael Humphrey, chairman of the council. Penelope Walkinshaw, the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, also attended.
It was followed by a buffet lunch in the church hall.
