IN the course of a lengthy association with people of Fenland, I have always taken pride in the considerable achievements of my company in providing a range of quality homes that have fitted the desires and demands of a wide range of people.

My company has been building homes in Fenland for a number of years, and our integrity and achievements have never been challenged. That is until now.

I refer, of course, to the current issues surrounding ourselves and Fenland District Council over our site at Christchurch. While in the fullness of time the facts of this matter will become apparent for all to see, and to judge, I am aware that some prospective purchasers may have concerns over the issues that your columns have, quite properly and fairly, portrayed.

Hazelmere Homes has a long and noble tradition of responsible development, has always embraced community wishes and aspirations in all aspects of its home building programme, and has always consulted widely with appropriate authorities in advance of a single brick being laid.

That we have done so to the satisfaction of our purchasers is evident from the many expressions of satisfaction received each year by myself and my hard working colleagues. But its goes further than that.

The site at Christchurch, for instance, has recently won the Daily Mail Development of the Year Award for Cambridgeshire, and that follows us winning the same award for Manea in 2005. Praise enough, you might think. However the prestigious Government Investor in People Award has also been made to Hazelmere Homes and in addition to that the nationally recognised Inspector Home assessment acknowledged our company as being the first in their history to build a new home with zero faults.

Quietly and diligently we have set about our task, and with a responsibility to all planning, environmental and legislative requirements.

I think your readers, many of whom will perhaps have bought one of our homes or who have friends or relatives happily living in one of our properties, will recognise these qualities and will testify to our absolute commitment to quality workmanship and to dealing with a company and an enviable record of attainment.

Hazelmere Homes is a professional, forward-looking company with a strong commitment to helping young couples build their future.

Having been in business for more that 35 years, I am proud and delighted to have stewardship of this family business and will, at some point in the future, hand the reins over to the next generation who will carry on the same traditions that have been founded over many years.

In the meantime Hazelmere is committed to meeting the needs of homebuyers not only in Fenland but in other counties throughout the east of England and I can assure both intended and committed purchasers of the highest level of service.

That we have a difficulty with Fenland Council is not being denied, but I am in no doubt whatsoever that Hazelmere has acted professionally and responsibly.
