A former mill looks set to be demolished to make way for nearly 30 homes in Manea.
The owners of the site at Lavenders Mill, in Fallow Corner Drive, are intending to knock down the buildings to allow it to be sold to a developer.
Plans state that the former grain store buildings are ‘deteriorating’ and the site is ‘unable to be sold due largely to the need to demolish the buildings and to remove the extensive hardstanding’.
The application states: “These [the buildings] are preventing site investigations work to take place in relation to archaeology and contamination and therefore the submission of the necessary reserved matters for the residential development.”
The demolition works are scheduled to take 12 weeks to complete and the site
will then be left flat and even to facilitate the future development.
It will also include the removal by hand of all asbestos cement roof and side sheets.
