Doddington Horticultural Society held its 70th annual show on Saturday in the village hall. Mrs Sally-Anne Barnard-Taylor, headteacher of Lionel Walden School, presented the prizes.
Children at the school also helped decorate the hall by making a triangle of bunting each – 274 in total.
Show secretary Lyne Green said: “It was good to have the school encouraging the children to get involved and we are hoping that this has set a precedent for the future.
“We were also delighted that the family of the late Sally Cross also provided a cup for the school in her memory.”
The show was started with a minute silence for former president Mr A. Short and Sally Cross, who over the years won many prizes - especially for her floral art.
There was also a speciality section this year which was won jointly by Anthea Hart and Elaine Emmett
The new school cup was presented to Mrs Sally-Anne Barnard-Taylor for class eight. This together with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd certificates for each class will be presented at the first assembly at the beginning of term.
Organisers thank everybody for their support.
Mrs Green said: “We are also asking for new members to join us because due to bereavement and health reasons we have lost several members and need new energetic people.”
