Jane Sills who was our speaker and gave a fascinating history of a walled kitchen garden in Ramsey Abbey. The garden had fallen into disuse over the years and was ‘re-discovered’ in 1996 during a Garden Trust Survey. Jane showed photographs, some very old, how the garden was slowly coming back to life from overgrown waste land to productive life. The garden was opened last year to the public, and is open from May through to October on Sunday afternoons, entry is from the Ramsey Rural Museum car park.
