FOX Narrowboats of March had a double celebration on Good Friday.

Tracey Baxter, Finance Director and RYA Helmsman Instructor Gary Baxter performed a naming ceremony on the company’s latest hire boat Platinum Fox, a £75,000 investment in boat stock for the company.

They also celebrated 40 years of building narrowboats in front of holiday makers.

A celebration cake was then cut by Paul Hazelden from Kent who was part of the crew of Platinum Fox’s first hire.

Tracey said: “During the last 40 years many changes have taken place in narrowboat building from basic craft that had camping style bunks to now having 240v electricity with flat screen televisions and microwaves and central heating.

“As a company we are proud to have an Enjoy England 5 star graded fleet of boats.”

Fox Narrowboats are situated on the Middle Level Navigations part of the UK Inland waterways network of over 3500 miles of rivers and canals. The company operates a 200 berth marina to the west of March as well as a holiday hire fleet and day hire Narrowboats.
