Barclays Bank branches joined in with the fun, wearing pink and holding coffee mornings.

The money raised by all the banks was matched by their head office.

Sheila Cross, counter manager at Barclays' March branch, which raised £300, said: "It was only due to take place in the morning but it went on for most of the day."

Staff at Travelcare, based in the Westgate store in Wisbech, dressed in pink and held a tombola, raising £143. Various prizes were donated by the different departments.

And the March branch of builders' merchants Ridgeons joined the fun, with staff paying £2 to wear pink.

Fund-raising activities included a tombola, pink cakes stall and 'guess the pink pumpkin weight' competition. Winner was Billy Monkshead, whose guess of 52kg was just 500g away from the pumpkin's weight of 51.5kg. A total of £334 was raised, which Ridgeons then matched.

Sue Eglen, a member of staff who has suffered breast cancer, thanked everyone for their help, humour and generosity throughout the day.
