STREET Pride, the Fenland Council initiative to promote pride in local communities, has stepped up a gear in Parson Drove, where members of the local Street Pride group organised their own environmental action day to highlight environmental issues in the area and raise money to do something about them.

The event, in the village hall, was attended by many partner agencies that were keen to engage with local residents.

Sale of refreshments and bric-a-brac, along with a raffle, raised funds for the village Street Pride group. The money will be used to improve the village of Parson Drove for the benefit of all residents.

Pupils from Payne Primary School produced a dazzling array of posters to coincide with the event, asking local residents to look after their village.

Partners attending the event included Parson Drove Street Pride Volunteers, the council's 'Getting It Sorted' road show, the council dog warden service, the council sports development service, the police, fire and rescue service, Fenland Links, Connexions (Skills for Life), Family Learning and Eco-Garden Water Solutions.

Parson Drove Street Pride volunteers' next meeting will be on Thursday, September 6 (7.30pm) at the Cage.

All local residents are welcome to attend.
