A lorry driver had an uncomfortably long wait today – and blocked a road for much of it- after getting stuck near Wimblington.

He appeared to be leaving a field along the Wimblington Road between Boots Bridge and Manea when the incident happened.

One reader said: “It’s a beet lorry may well have been coming out of a field or side road and cut it too tight! “Not a speed thing.”

His sign on the front of the lorry said ‘Globe Trotter’ which may have been true yesterday and may well be so tomorrow.

But for today his ‘globe trotting’ days were curtailed as rescuers spent some time freeing him from a Fenland ditch.
