Suffolk Fire and Rescue assisted Fenland police with their state-of-the-art DJI Inspire drone – worth around £3,000 - when trying to locate the missing man.

Officers were alerted during the early hours of Sunday (July 22) that the man had gone from his home and was of high-risk.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “A National Police Air Service helicopter from Boreham attended during the night to assist with a search.

“Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service also assisted with their drone unit to help with search as it got light.”

Police say the eye in the sky helped with the search as it “could cover a large search area”.

Fen Cops tweeted: “@SuffolkFire assisted @FenCops this morning with a high risk missing person with the use of a drone which could cover a large search area.”

Police confirmed the man was found alive later Sunday morning.
