The Youth District Council is urging all young people who are able to vote in all Thursday’s elections to make sure they exercise that right.
Claire Bennett, the YDC’s chairman, said: “As members of the Youth District Council we believe we can have some influence in improving lives for people of our generation. Events such as Democracy Day have helped us to understand politics better and we know these elections are really important. Obviously we can’t vote ourselves but we want everyone who knows what young people care about to make sure they do.
“Every single vote counts. You have the chance to make a difference and to make our lives better. And if you don’t bother to vote, you can’t complain about the result!”
