Poorly placed road closure signs blamed for an accident in Elm are being used to flag up repairs NINE miles away in March where work has stopped anyway.

The signs, blocking the entry lane from the A1101, on the B1101 junction near Elm are being used to alert drivers of the Elm Road closure in March.

Anglian Water have shut a section of the road NINE miles away from the Elm warning signs as they complete “essential works”.

Vehicles coming into March are being diverted down Flagrasshill Road, a single lane farm track designed for minimal traffic.

Work has stopped at the March site, a digger left parked in the middle of the road next to a large hole in the ground where work has been going on is all that can be seen.

One resident said: “They’ve gone home now. It’s the heat. They’ve had people down here for three days looking for the gas main and they can’t seem to find it.”

The incident in Elm happened Wednesday, July 25, it involved a Toyota pick-up truck, a blue Mini and a Mercedes. Cambridgeshire police confirmed there were ‘slight’ injuries.

People on social media are blaming the poorly placed signs for the reason the three cars collided.
