The exhibition ‘The Great War, Behind the Lines’ display included panels on different aspects of the First World War. The panels were produced in 2014 as part of a larger EU funded project the county council was engaged in.

Another exhibition, ‘Time for Healing - Focus on the medical’, was a display of medical paraphernalia - nurses’ uniform, auxiliary hospitals, medals, letters and medical instruments from the collection of military historian Andrew Spooner.

There was also a ‘living exhibition’ of a First World War convalescent hospital by Classworks Theatre with performers to help bring the exhibition to life.

There was also a display of posters and comic postcards of the era.

Finally, ‘World War 1 trench art’ was presented by Rob Law. These objects, made out of recycled war refuse such as shell casings, spent bullets or whatever came to hand, open a window to the past.
