Emneth Nursery School & Children’s Centre was praised by Ofsted in all four areas of inspection following the visit in May.

The watchdog said that head teacher, Holly Bowman, and staff were “excellent role models” that made children feel “inspired to achieve”.

The report, by inspector Peter Towner, said: “The quality of teaching throughout the nursery is outstanding. The well-qualified and experienced staff provide children with an incredibly broad and exciting range of activities and experiences.

“This has an excellent impact on their progress. Children are kind and extremely considerate to each other. Their behaviour is outstanding. Staff provide excellent role models for children to follow.

“They help children play and work together extremely harmoniously. They are extremely confident, articulate and highly inquisitive learners. Their learning continually builds successfully on what they already know and can do.

“They develop outstanding skills for future learning and in readiness for their eventual move to school.”

Staff from the Hollycroft Road school also visit children in their own home before they start to attend the nursery, to get a better picture about what they already know and can do.

Mrs Bowman said: “As the headteacher I am incredibly proud and in awe of the hard work and commitment that my staff team give here at Emneth Nursery School.

“The report recognised the exceptional learning that happens within the nursery and how the staff inspire children and act as excellent role models. We couldn’t be happier that Ofsted recognised this along with our drive to ensure that we learn from research both in the UK and EU to ensure our practice is outstanding and we continue to be innovative in our methods of teaching and learning. We are delighted with this report.”

The nursery was ranked outstanding in effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching and learning, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children.

The report continues: “The headteacher and staff have an excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection matters. They know what action they must take to protect children from harm. The headteacher and leaders are determined to maintain exceptionally high standards of care and learning.

“To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should give even more opportunities for children to enrich their already excellent exploration and problem-solving skills away from the nursery.”

Emneth Nursery School and Children’s Centre was registered in 2004 and employs 15 members of staff.

The nursery opens from Monday to Friday all year round with sessions from 8am until 5pm.

They provide funded early education for two, three and four-year-old children.
