INTRUDERS have been sleeping in former Gatwick Express coaches being stored in readiness to carry passengers between March and Wisbech on the Bramley Line.
There is now 24-hour surveillance on the coaches in a bid to thwart squatters.
Bramley Line officials were alerted to the break-in by signalling staff at March East sidings and gained permission from Network Rail to investigate.
A spokesman for the line said: "Fortunately, there was no damage done but the coaches have been sprayed with graffiti.
"It was obviously someone who had nowhere to sleep and they managed to find a way in.
"We would warn people that they are trespassing and will be liable to prosecution. It is a very dangerous thing to do. If the running boards are wet and they are climbing up they could fall and hit their head on the rails.
