St John’s Church’s autumn fair on Saturday raised £400 towards its raise the roof fund.
Youngsters had their faces painted, while adults browsed the stalls, which sold crafts, cakes, books and clothes.
The March church needs to raise £187,000 to repair its rotting roof and secure its future - a task which has been made all the more difficult since grant funding bids have been unsuccessful.
Revd Clifford Stocking said: “We’ve managed to raise just under £10,000, but we haven’t got any grants so we are a still a long way short.”
